Japanese Style Home Decorating

A state of equilibrium in the universe is the essence of Japanese, and this state is reflected in Japanese style home decorating. The Japanese believe that everything in a house should blend with the order prevailing in nature.

Japanese style of home decorating is based on widely known Buddhist doctrine. It ensures that the yin and yang is in total harmony. This means the style is all about balancing opposites. The Japanese believe that strong and contrasting colors are not a contradiction to your goal of achieving tranquility, balance and order. Some of the examples of Japanese interior décor are having floors that were extremely well polished and then covered with rough-textured carpets, a beautifully decorated box placed on rough wooden surface or white stones placed on a black granite shelf that has been polished. The shelf is placed around a large open vessel.

If you want to decorate your home in Japanese style, make sure that you opt for raw and neutral colors. These colors are basically used to reduce the effect of chaos and clutter. While most people do use black and white for interior decoration, these are important colors in Japanese style decoration.

Japanese furniture is inclined to be minimal but multi-operational. For example, a futon is a decorative piece, but it is even used for sitting, sleeping, exercising and serving tea or coffee. The placement of furniture and display follows the property of fluidity. Japanese style of decorating gives less precedence to overloading of furniture in any room.

Western style of decorating places the main object along the edge of the perimeter of the room and then makes it a central point. A good example would be a fireplace, hearth, wall painting or an intricately designed window. However, Japanese style of decorating concentrates on central object within the perimeter such as simple pebble, dry garden, rocks or a shrine. The style sets aside lots of open space in a home.
